ANR – “Blood On Blood”

Miami’s wacky pop purveyors ANR, who we last heard from when they played an LFC show in an East London basement (The Victory) back in May, have recorded a brand new track entitled “Blood On Blood”.

Mixed by the in-demand Ben H. Allen (whose recent credits include Animal Collective, Reptar and Bombay Bicycle Club’s critically acclaimed new LP), the track featured on a double A-sided 7″ release on Neon Gold Records last month, alongside older song (and latest album highlight) “It’s Around You”.

More direct than anything on the “Stay Kids” album, it channels everyone from Passion Pit to Muse (to our ears at least) and got us all hot under the collar when we first heard it live at the aforementioned gig. The excitement levels didn’t wane upon listening to the studio version either, which is always a promising sign. We’re looking forward to the band returning to the UK.

Second LFC May show announced: The Victory, E2, Tuesday 24 May

We’ve announced a second May show (the first being tomorrow night at The Social): on Tuesday 24th, we’re heading out East onto Kingsland Road where we host a night at The Victory featuring Miami electro/space pop duo ANR, who are over in the UK for The Great Escape, and also to open for the likes of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Perfume Genius and Brother.

They’re also promoting their much lauded debut LP ‘Stay Kids’ (currently out on Something In Construction) – “all sorts of great, billowing melancholia and pop mastery” said US blog The Culture Of Me, whilst The Word piped up with “Any band that mingles Brian Wilson with Prince, ELP, Funkadelic and Giorgio Moroder is fine by us”. We’re not ones to usually argue with this kind of praise, and upon repeated listens, their material certainly stands up to it.

We’ve managed to pin them down for an exclusive London headline show in a 120 capacity pub – something not to be sniffed at, given the fact they’re in line to be the next big thing from the States after Resse’s Pieces.

Support on the night comes from fast-rising atmospheric electro quartet Worship, who’ve just been on tour with Everything Everything (with whom they share management). Their songs, much like someone like Beach House, have the ability to transport you from inner city London to somewhere far more desolate and scenic. It’s an undeniable quality.

East London (via France) jazz electro duo MiAOW, who played an absolute stormer of a set for us at The Lock Tavern in August of last year, open the evening. If you managed to catch them at said performance, you’ll know it’ll be worth turning up early.

Advance tickets for this one are recommended – they can be snapped up here. If you’re coming, let us know by RSVP’ing to the Facebook event.
