Allman Brown

We’re very excited to say we’ll be working with London artist Allman Brown as part of our management wing. His latest EP, “Sons And Daughters”, is out now on Akira Records – with a follow up due out this summer.

The EP’s lead track was co-written and performed with Liz Lawrence, and was placed on NBC’s “Parenthood” in the USA earlier this year – you can watch the episode here (song appears from 25:10). Stay tuned for more news soon.

KHUSHI – “Phantoms” (Official video + Sofar Sounds session)

Ahead of the official release of the “Phantoms” EP this coming Monday (3 March), two new KHUSHI videos have surfaced online – the official video for the lead track, directed by Ryan Goodman and Amer Chadha Patel, and also a live acoustic performance of the song at a Sofar Sounds night in London.

Watch both of them above. Don’t forget the EP can be pre-ordered on iTunes and also on white 10″ vinyl (mp3 download code included). KHUSHI plays his biggest headline show to date at Electrowerkz on Thursday 6 March to launch the EP (tickets here). This follows on from his recently completed dates with London Grammar, where he opened for them in Bournemouth, Birmingham, Bristol and Brighton.

LFC011: KHUSHI – “Phantoms” EP (3 March)

Following on from his highly successful debut single “Magpie”, we’re very excited to be releasing KHUSHI‘s debut EP, “Phantoms”, on Monday 3 March. It’ll be available on white 10″ vinyl and digital download, and contains 4 brand new tracks. KHUSHI is due to play 4 dates with London Grammar on their current tour, starting tomorrow in Bournemouth, and headlines Electrowerkz in London on Thursday 6 March for the record launch. Support that evening comes from fellow “Blog Sound Of 2014″ nominees Hella Better Dancer, and Peter Lyons.

All information, including how to pre-order, can be found here, and you can stream the lead track below.

LFC at Independent Label Market, Sat 30.11.13

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be once again co-hosting a stall (with Killing Moon) at the Christmas edition of Independent Label Market, which is taking place at Old Spitalfields Market on Saturday 30 November (from 11:00 to 17:00). There are set to be 80 or so other indie labels represented, including the likes of Bella Union, Domino and Young Turks.

This year is set to be different to previous ones; what with London Brewers’ Market joining in on the day, offering up a wide selection of beer from outlets such as Camden Town Brewery, Hackney Brewery and East London Brewing Company.

All our 7″ releases to date will be on sale (LFC001 – LFC005; LFC010), and be sure to stay tuned for news of a special acoustic performance during the day!

Follow @IndieLabelMkt on Twitter for the latest announcements, and you can RSVP to the event on Facebook here.

KHUSHI – “Pilgrim” (MØ cover) + Channel 4 appearance

Here’s KHUSHI putting his own unique spin on MØ’s “Pilgrim” at a session filmed at In The Woods Festival earlier this year (original version).

His debut single “Magpie” has been out for nearly a month now, and was yesterday featured on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch programme. The track was also added to the show’s Spotify playlist, alongside the likes of Rizzle Kicks, Arcade Fire, The 1975 and Bastille.

KHUSHI – “Magpie” (Official Video)

The official video for KHUSHI‘s “Magpie”, directed by Ryan Goodman and produced by Rupert Savage, is now available to view. It was premiered on Monday just gone by The Line Of Best Fit.

LFC010: Magpie by KHUSHI (out 7 October)

We’ve been away for a little while, but would like to think we’re back with a bang – our next release on the label (LFC010) will be the amazing “Magpie” by London-based KHUSHI.

Earning comparisons to artists like The National, Alt-J, Bon Iver and fellow Londoner Sivu with his brooding, emotive and timeless tracks, there’s been a tangible buzz surrounding KHUSHI in the last twelve months or so. As such, we’re over the moon to be putting out his first ever release on Monday 7 October (300 7″ & digital). The launch show takes place the following evening, 8 October, at Hoxton Plaza (tickets), and the limited edition clear vinyl can be pre-ordered from here right now.

Check out a new, revised version of the song below, which has just been premiered by Huw Stephens on Radio 1 and also over at This Is Fake DIY.

Jake Mattison – “Lord If I Could” (Live Session)

Jake Mattison filmed this live session of his track “Lord If I Could” before his appearance at Swn Festival in Cardiff recently (18 October). The result is just lovely – and reminds us why we fell in love with him (and his crowd silencing voice) right back at the start of the year. A small number of copies of his debut single, “Sorrow”, are still in stock at LFC HQ – grab one here.

Jade Hopcroft to release debut single “Saint” on LFC Records on 19 November

What was that saying about London buses? You wait for ages and then two come along at once? Something like that. Well, we can apply this to LFC Records releases. We’ve been locked away for a little while since the summer, but rather than fading slowly into obscurity, we’ve been preparing two amazing singles for you – first, The Divers one, which we announced a week or two back, and now we’re delighted to tell you that we’ll also be putting out Jade Hopcroft‘s wonderful debut single, “Saint”, on Monday 19 November.

We first came across Jade and her head-turning, haunting folk pop back in May at The Great Escape Festival down in Brighton, and so good was that show we decided we had to get involved to ensure that as many people as possible around the world hear her remarkable voice and nifty way around a pop song. Since then, she’s been cutting her teeth on the live scene with the likes of Matt Corby, Luke Sital-Singh and Rachel Sermanni, and has also found time to record these rather spine-tingling couple of tracks that make up the single. If you haven’t yet heard her, hit play below and think along the lines of Stevie Nicks, First Aid Kit and Laura Marling.

To celebrate the release, Jade will be playing a series of shows in London in the next few weeks – the famous Ronnie Scott’s (Tue 20 November), AAA on High Street Kensington (Thu 29 November) and Metropolis Studios in Chiswick (Tue 4 December). The single “Saint” will be available from all good digital retailers from 19 November, and will be backed with the previously unrecorded “Habit”, which has quickly become a mainstay in Jade’s live sets.

LFC007: A Little Better by The Divers (out 26 November)

We’re delighted to announce that the next release on Laissez Faire Club Records will be The Divers‘ amazing track “A Little Better”, which will be available from all good digital outlets (iTunes / Spotify included) from Monday 26 November.

We first came across a live studio video of the track from the London based quartet back in January, and it’s probably no exaggeration to say we’ve listened to it almost every day since (and whooped loudly when they’ve dropped it in their live shows).

To our ears, it’s as good as US indie referencing rock-pop gets, and as such we decided we had to get this out there for the world at large to hear. If you appreciate the work of people like Band Of Horses, Wilco, Pearl Jam, The Shins, Elliott Smith, Death Cab For Cutie, et al, we’re of the opinion The Divers will be your new favourite band before too long. Just under three minutes, perhaps, if you hit play on the single below. Go on – treat your ears.

As with all these singles we put out, there will of course be a launch party to celebrate. On this occasion, we can reveal that The Divers will be taking to the stage at The Enterprise in Camden on Tuesday 27 November, a day after the release hits the proverbial shelves, which should give you ample time to learn the words in advance. Supports are TBC at the time of writing – so keep checking back to find out what we have in store (and also for ticketing details).
