On Friday 17 September, Laissez Faire Club is returning to the “gloriously lowdown, coolfuck venue” (Time Out) The Windmill in Brixton, South London, where it all started almost four years ago when we put on our first ever live night featuring New York’s Five O’Clock Heroes.
Let’s Buy Happiness, one of the hottest bands in the North East and winners of the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition (previous victors have included The Subways, Golden Silvers and We Have Band) earlier this year, are travelling to London to play their first ever show in the capital. This is something we’ve been trying to arrange with them for some months, so we’re pretty chuffed to finally get a date in the diary.
Support comes from brand new “night pop” duo Alpines (the new project of former LFC stars Catherine Pockson and Bob Matthews), Vancouver BC’s wondrous Yukon Blonde (over in the UK for the first time ever) and new London band Pushing Hands, who we’ve already shouted about in a previous blog post. I know we probably say this every time we put a show on, but this really is the best lineup we’ve ever strung together. Honest.
Please let us know if you’re coming by RSVP’ing to the Facebook event here. Tickets are a mere £4 in advance (It’ll be £5 day of show) and can be booked via WeGotTickets. We advise buying now as this is set to be a pretty lively evening, and we want you to get in and see all the bands!
In the run up to the gig, the headliners are giving away (in exchange for an Email address) a track called Devil Show, which featured on their superb Not Hot Ashes EP, which came out in November last year. Click below to listen to and download the song.
